Crochet-Along (Week 5)

Week 5 of our crochet-along is here! If you are just joining in, don't worry, you can see all of the previous weeks of the crochet-along here. This week we will be using Color 3, which is Deep Green for our blanket, but of course you can use any color you would like. Let us see the squares you have completed using #marymaximcal on social media!
Square 15
Ch 25 loosely.
Row 1: (Dc, ch 2, sc) in 4th ch from hook, *skip next 2 ch, (2 dc, ch 2, sc) in next ch; rep from * to end.
Row 2: Ch 2, turn, (2 dc, ch 2, sc) in first ch-2 sp and in each ch-2 sp across.
Repeat Row 2 until square measures 7”
Square 16
Ch 8, join with sl st to form ring.
Row 1: Work beg CL as follows: ch 3, twice, yo and draw through all 3 loops on hook - beg CL made, ch 5, work CL in ring as follows: 3 times, yo and draw through all 4 loops on hook – CL made, ch 2, *work (CL, ch 5, CL) in ring, ch 2; rep from *twice more, sl st in top of beg CL – 8 Cls
Row 2: Sl st in first ch-5 sp, (work beg CL, ch 3, CL) in same sp, ch 2, 3 dc in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, * work (CL, ch 3, CL) in next ch-5 sp, ch 2, 3dc in next ch-2 sp, ch 2; rep from *around sl st in top of beg CL.
Row 3: Sl st in first ch-3 sp, work (beg CL, ch 3, CL) in same sp, ch 2, 2 dc in next ch-2 sp, dc in each of next 3 dc, 2 dc in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, *work (CL, ch 3, CL) in next ch-3 sp, ch 2, 2 dc in next ch-2 sp, dc in each of next 3 dc, 2dc in next ch-2 sp, ch 2; rep from *around, sl st in top of beg CL.
Row 4, 5, and 6: Sl st in first ch-3 sp, work (beg CL, ch 3, CL) in same sp, ch 2, 2 dc in next ch-2 sp, dc in each dc across to next ch-2 sp, 2 dc in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, *work (Cl, ch 3, CL) in next ch-3 sp, ch 2, work 2 dc in next ch-2 sp, dc in each dc across to next ch-2 sp, 2 dc in next ch-2 sp, ch 2; rep from *around, sl st in top of beg CL.
SQUARE 17
Ch 4, join with sl st to form ring.
Row 1: Ch 3, (counts as first dc, 2 dc in ring, ch 2, 3 times, sl st in top of beg ch-3 – 12 dc total
Row 2: Sl st in each of next 2 dc and in first ch-2 sp, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in same sp, ch 1, *(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp – Shell made, ch 1; rep from * around, sl st in top of beg ch-3 – 4 shells
Row 3: Sl st in each of next 2 dc and in first ch-2 sp, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in same sp, ch1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, *work shell in ch-2 sp of next shell, ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1; rep from *around, sl st in top of beg ch-3.
Row 4, 5, 6, and 7: Sl st in each of next 2 dc and first ch-2 sp, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in same sp, ch 1, (3 dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1) across to next Shell, *work Shell in next Shell, ch1, (3 dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1) across to next Shell; rep from * around sl st in top of beg ch-3 – at end of last round. Sl st in each of next 2 dc and in next ch-2 sp, fasten off.

Square 18
Ch 25 loosely.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch to end, turn – 24 sc
Row 2: Ch 3, (counts as first dc), dc in next sc, *skip next sc, dc in each of next 3 sc, yo, insert hook in skipped sc and pull up a loop even with hook, twice – Slant st made; rep from * to last 2 sc, dc in each of last 2 sc, turn – 5 slant sts
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each st across – 24 sc
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until square measures 7” - ending on Row 3.

These squares were the easiest ones yet! I managed to get them done by Monday night. I can’t wait to see what the new squares will be for Friday…As someone said, Friday’s are an exciting crochet day now!
And now I have figured it out, and this square looks much better, phew!
Hmmm, I have restarted the first square this week several times, not looking anything like the photo. Have to take a break and then try one more time, seems like I am following the steps correctly, but I am doing something wrong…
