Week 3 - Shaping the Instep
This week during our Socktober Fest Footloose KAL we begin to shape the instep. You can find the footloose free sock pattern on marymaxim.com. This part of the sock decreases slightly and runs the length between the ball of the heel and the toes. What we've done so far!
Our pattern works as follows:
To Shape Instep: On first needle, k to last 2 sts, k2tog; on 2nd and 3rd needles, knit all sts; on 4th needle, sl 1, k1, psso, k to end. Work 2 rnds even. Repeat these last 3 rnds until 56(60, 64) sts rem. Now continue in St st until foot from picked up heel sts measures desired length before toe shaping (allow 2” for toe). This is the part of the sock that can be modified for peoples with wider or narrower feet. Next week we will finish our sock by shaping the toe. After the New Year, we will begin our 3rd sock of the series with our Step Softly Sock Yarn with Free Sock Pattern: Top Down Ribbed Socks Pattern. The Step Softly Sock Yarn comes in 10 different colors
